HEALTH EXAMINATION
It is a program designed to help Special Olympics athletes improve their health and fitness. This leads to an increase
Objectives of the health screening program :
- The delivery of health services to Special Olympics athletes.
- Transferring them to more specialized health services if required.
- Training health care officials to work with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Documenting the health status and health needs of Special Olympics athletes.
- Provides knowledge to enable us to provide effective health care for people with intellectual disabilities.
- Advocating for improving public policies to support the health needs of people with intellectual disabilities.

1Sports Health Examination (Med Fest):
An initiative aimed at:
Free examination for persons with intellectual disabilities before participating in local, regional and international championships in (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, body mass index, vision, hearing, medical history, potential side effects of drugs and general physical health) that meets the requirements and standard of physical sport led by volunteer doctors.
2Developing Strong Minds
An initiative aimed at:
- An interactive educational activity that focuses on developing adaptive coping skills.
- Develop strategies for activities to maintain emotional health under stress, such as: thinking positive thoughts, releasing stress and communicating with others.
- Assist athletes in identifying ways to manage stress during competition and in everyday life.
3Fit Feet
An initiative aimed at:
- Checking for foot and ankle deformities.
- Examination of nails and the condition of the skin of the fingers and feet.
- Examination of suitable shoes and socks.
- A thorough examination of the ankles and feet.
- Determine the appropriate shoe for each player.
- Educating coaches, players and their families on appropriate shoes and socks.
4FUN Fitness
An initiative aimed at:
Improving physical fitness for people with intellectual disabilities.
It provides an opportunity to examine for body muscle flexibility and functional strength of the lower abdominal muscles, and for balance.
Instructions and directives of coaches for athletes to prevent and reduce the risk of injury, and to improve optimal function of athletes in sports training and competition.
5Healthy Hearing
An initiative aimed at:
- Measuring the accuracy of hearing, examining the external ear canal and the condition of the inner ear of people with intellectual disabilities, recommending the required medical or hearing treatment, and also determining the player's need for hearing devices or not, and places that can be treated at low costs.
Instructing coaches, players and their families on ear care. - Players' headphones repair, adjustment and maintenance.
Provision of earplugs for swimming players.
6Health Promotion
An initiative aimed at:
- Provide information, encourage and facilitate choices for a healthy life for people with intellectual disabilities.
- Improving self-image and quality of life.
- Provide players with the means to act for their health.
- Body mass index (BMI) and bone density assessment.
- Teaching avoiding smoking, protecting the skin, eating healthy, and maintaining strong bones.
7Dental Health (Special Smiles)
The Oral and Dental Health Initiative aims to improve access to dental care for people with intellectual disabilities, guidance on brushing techniques, and increase community and dental awareness of the health problems faced by people with intellectual disabilities.
8Opening Eyes
An initiative that aims to provide free eye assessments, medical glasses, sunglasses and sports glasses for people with intellectual disabilities, as well as screening for the eyes and eyes of players.
